Uros Floating Islands Tour – Lake Titicaca

Discover the secrets of one of the oldest cultures in South America with a visit to the incredible Uros Floating Islands, a unique handmade community built entirely on the waters of Lake Titicaca.

Your experience begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Puno, followed by a transfer to the local port. From there, you’ll board a comfortable boat and enjoy a scenic journey across the lake for approximately one hour.

As you glide over the calm waters, take in the spectacular views and learn interesting facts about the lake—did you know that 60% of Lake Titicaca belongs to Peru while the remaining 40% lies in Bolivia?

Upon arrival, you’ll step onto the famous floating islands, carefully handcrafted by the Uru people using layers of totora reeds. These natural reeds, which grow abundantly in the shallow waters, are continuously harvested and layered to maintain the islands’ structure.

During your visit, you’ll:

• Learn how the islands are built and maintained

• Discover the ancestral traditions of the Uru community

After this cultural immersion, you’ll return by boat to the port of Puno and be transferred back to your hotel.
