Why visit Rainbow Mountain?
Visiting the Montaña de Siete Colores is a unique experience in the Peruvian Andes. Its stunning natural stripes of colors, created by different minerals in the soil, form one of the most spectacular landscapes in Peru. The hike to the viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, Andean wildlife, and vast valleys. It also provides the opportunity to connect with local communities and challenge yourself at high altitude, making it an unforgettable adventure. 🌄
Would you like to discover one of the most incredible mountains shaped by nature? In this tour, you will visit one of the most famous mountains in Peru, known for its stunning natural colors.
Our tour begins with hotel pickup at the time you selected. Pickups usually start from 4:00 a.m. from your hotel in Cusco. From there, we will travel for approximately 2 hours to a local restaurant where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and a short rest.
After breakfast, we will continue our journey for about 1 more hour to the trailhead, where the hike to the Montaña de Siete Colores begins. The hike is approximately 4 km, and along the way you will enjoy breathtaking landscapes, including views of the Cordillera de Vilcanota and nearby snow-capped peaks. You will also have the opportunity to see typical Andean animals such as alpacas and llamas.
After about 2 hours of hiking, we will reach the summit at Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain), where you will have enough time to admire the spectacular colors, take photos, and enjoy the amazing scenery. Your professional guide will provide an explanation about the geological formation and cultural importance of the mountain.
Afterward, we will start the hike back to the bus station, where our transportation will take us to the restaurant to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
The tour ends with the return to the Plaza de Armas de Cusco, arriving in the city around 5:00 p.m.
This hike is considered moderately to challenging, so we recommend it for travelers who are in good physical condition and overall good health. It is not recommended for people with heart conditions or serious health issues.
The tour takes place at high altitude, reaching approximately 16,400 ft (5,200 m) above sea level at the Montaña de Siete Colores. Although the trail is mostly gradual with some small hills, the hike lasts about 1 hour and 40 minutes, and the high altitude and lower oxygen levels can make the walk more demanding.
For a better experience, we strongly recommend spending at least 1–2 days in Cusco before the tour to properly acclimatize to the altitude. Drinking plenty of water, resting well, and walking at a steady pace will help you enjoy the hike more comfortably.
Hotel pickup takes place between 4:00 a.m. and 4:40 a.m., depending on the location of your accommodation.
If your hotel is located outside the pickup area, we will provide you with the exact meeting point near the Plaza de Armas de Cusco.
The tour is conducted with a Spanish- and English-speaking guide.

Despite our very last-minute request, everything was arranged smoothly and professionally. The private transfer was comfortable, and the Nazca Lines flight with an English-speaking guide was clear and enjoyable. Our driver, Manuel, was kind, professional, and very supportive throughout the long journey, making us feel safe at all times. My wife and I truly enjoyed the entire experience and created memories we will never forget. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable tour company in Peru.Posted on Geovana ArboledaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We took the tour - Peru in 10 Days: From the Capital to the Inca Ruins with Flight Included - and had it slightly changed. The travel agency was flexible in adjusting the itinerary. They were generous enough to give us a hotel room upgrade in Lima and a free guide on our Wayna Picchu trek. This was a truly memorable Christmas since we spent it in Wayna Picchu and Machu Picchu which was on our bucket list. All other parts of the tour were great especially Huacachina and Rainbow Mountain. The Ceviche in the class & tasting part of the tour was the best one we tried as compared to the highly rated restaurants we visited in Lima. Highly recommended! Special thanks to Yonel Simón and Rosa Roque Ccora!Posted on Manon HugTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing day with this tour, perfectly guided by Gabriel, who was incredibly friendly throughout the trip. Despite being only two non-Spanish speakers in the group, he took the time to translate everything into English, which we deeply appreciated. The day was full of wonderful surprises: from spotting incredible wildlife during the Paracas tour, to learning about the art of Pisco making during the tasting session, and finally the highlight of the day—exploring the Huacachina desert by buggy and witnessing a breathtaking sunset. We couldn’t recommend this experience more—absolutely worth it!Posted on Alvaro Egler brañaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Grandísimos profesionales.
